Varthur (Bangalore taluk), May 13 (KVV)- Sri Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi reportedly collapsed during the darshan for his devotees at the Ashram in Kadugodi near here on Tuesday.
As usual, Baba arrived at the prayer hall from Prashanthi Nilayam for giving darshan to his devotees, but soon collapsed.
The incident took place when the 80-year-old Baba was entering the prayer hall through the left side door. A volunteer by name Rajakumar Jain and a Policeman deployed by the State Government rushed to his help when Baba collapsed. The incident was witnessed by thous-ands of devotees causing anxiety among them.
Prayer was stopped and confusion prevailed for some time.
The Seva Dal volunteers who swung into action immediately shifted Baba to the rest house.
The doctors who arrived from Sri Sathya Sai Public Hospital treated Baba. Police sources said that Baba collapsed by tripping on his gown, which he wore regularly.
